Families Forward, a 501(c)(3) entity of Housing Works, announces the receipt of two grants totaling $20,456. The grants, which have been graciously awarded by Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation and Oregon Community Foundation, will be used to support Families Forward’s Opportunities for Kids program.
The Opportunities for Kids program provides children who reside in Housing Works’ community’s access to social, educational and enrichment activities. Families Forward has partnered with community organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon, the Parks & Recreation districts, and Campfire USA. The goal of the scholarship fund is to provide the resources to assist parents in providing year round safe, quality learning and enrichment opportunities to their children during the hours directly after school and when school is not in session. The programs are designed to expand the social enrichment needs of a diverse group of children by offering educational, cultural and recreational events and activities.
“We are very excited to have received this money” said Families Forward Resident Services Director Kenny LaPoint. “The money will be used to support our current programs and provide additional programs for youth in the community.”
Families Forward’s purpose is to provide services to residents of Housing Works controlled properties as well as participants in the Housing Choice Voucher program. These core services include Family Sustainability, Personal Asset Building and Opportunities for Kids.
